However, it can be a bit daunting trying to plan out exactly what to do. But don’t worry–we’ve helped celebrate plenty of birthdays at Bliss. Here are some of our favorite milestone birthday ideas to help you plan.

Find A Venue

These milestone birthdays come only once in a lifetime. Why not make this one a little extra special by hosting it at a special event venue?

Determine your approximate guest count, and then find a local venue that checks off all the boxes that you’re looking for. Make sure to leave a little extra room for last-minute guests.

You’ll want to make sure your event venue has either a dance floor or an open space, because what’s a birthday party without a little dancing, right?

An open space also offers room for games and any hired entertainment.

Get Top-Notch Catering

Other than gathering with your loved ones, sharing truly outstanding food is one of the most important aspects of any milestone birthday party.

If you think you can manage to cook for 50 guests, then go for it. But doing it yourself (or even recruiting someone else to) may be harder than it seems.

It might be best to leave the food to professionals. At Bliss Restaurant, we offer full catering services. Our chefs will work with you to design the perfect milestone birthday menu that you and your guests will surely love. Besides, you shouldn’t have to make the food for your own birthday.

Milestone Birthday Ideas

Now that you’ve chosen a venue and arranged to have some amazing food, it’s time to think about what kind of party you’ll be hosting. Here are a few examples.

Age-Themed Party

Turning 40? A great theme idea is to host a party with decorations, drinks, and music from the 1940s. If the host was turning 50, it would be a 1950s-themed party, and so on.

Other great ideas in this vein include hiring a band to play the biggest hits from the decade and asking your catering service to create some of the popular foods from that era. For example, baked Alaska was a huge dessert trend in the 1950s.

You can also keep this theme up with signature cocktails that were popular in that decade

Hobby-Themed Party

More than likely, the guest of honor has a hobby or interest that they enjoy. Perhaps it’s sports, exercising, photography, or one of any hundreds of other things.

One of our favorite milestone birthday ideas is to host the party based on that theme.

If you’re hosting a photography-themed party, you could provide each guest with a disposable camera for them to take pictures throughout the night.

Or for a sports-themed party, you could ask guests to wear their favorite jersey, or to dress up as an athlete.

Whatever the theme is, you can get extremely creative with the decorations, food, music, and more.

Our venue at Bliss has an open floor concept, which allows guests the ability to completely customize everything to get that perfect theme that you want.

Birthday Game Ideas

Maybe you’re thinking what kind of entertainment or games you want to play. We’ve got you covered there, too.

Roast The Guest Of Honor

If your guest of honor has a good sense of humor, we highly suggest throwing them a roast.

You’ll need a microphone and a podium, with the guest of honor sitting nearby the podium.

Let your guests know well in advance before the party so that whoever wants to participate in the roast can have their jokes written down and ready to go.

Funny anecdotes and past situations are a great go-to when telling jokes for a roast. Make sure the jokes are appropriate for the guests who will be in attendance, and make sure that they aren’t mean-spirited.

Play Jeopardy

Set up a Jeopardy game board for guests to participate in. Instead of general trivia questions, they can be questions about the birthday boy or girl!

Choose a handful of topics about the guest of honor, and then create 5-7 questions within each topic. You can either choose specific topics about the person or make each topic a decade of their life (if they’re old enough to have at least five topics).

The harder the question, the more points they’re worth.

Instead of having individuals play, you can divide your guests up into groups. That way, there’s some teamwork involved.

The Birthday “Hot Seat”

This game is all about how well the guests know the star of the show. Have the birthday boy or girl create a list of about 100 questions about themselves (or you can create it for them).

Once someone is sitting in the “hot seat”, the birthday boy or girl will start firing off questions about themselves for 30 seconds. Make sure to have someone keeping score.

Whoever gets the most answers correct wins a prize.

Conclusion

Depending on how grand of a soiree you’ll be hosting, planning should begin a few months in advance. Making sure you’ve got the right venue, working on the menu, and finding the entertainment can all can take time. Milestone birthday ideas don’t just get done themselves, after all!
